Mega Fest is coming to Oldham!

Date published: 17 January 2023

Rock n rollers from miles around are in for a real treat when Square Wild's Mega Fest music festival comes to Oldham in June.

Square Wild are one of the bands that will play at the famous Whittle's venue in central Oldham on June 3.

The Mega Fest is an independent not-for-profit festival, created by Lucy Shevchuk, guitarist and vocalist in Square Wild, Tomos Cooper (the band's drummer) and Nathan Butcher.

Lucy said: "We are three musicians on a mission.

"Our mission is to bring to Oldham a colourful, eccentric, eclectic, creative, expressive and welcoming festival to the centre of the town.

"We believe that the music and arts scene North of Manchester is lacking diversity and celebration.

"Our festival will bring together a huge mix of different styles of music and art and is a place where creativity and expression is celebrated in all of its forms.

"After the success of our 2022 event, we felt that the next one should move to outside of the city centre.

"We chose Oldham for a few reasons, but the main ones are that I was born there and grew up there, and collectively we feel as though Oldham gets neglected and deserves more recognition for the underground venues it has.

"We really believe in our festival and we really believe in the power of music and art, to bring people together in times where people are becoming more and more divided."

Mega Fest will showcase a mix of Ska, Rock, Jazz, Funk, Classic Rock, Punk and Prog Rock.

Ten bands will feature, headlined by Ask My Bull, with chief support from Seas Of Mirth and Square Wild, who won Prog magazine's Best Unsigned Band award for 2022.

The rest of the bands on the bill are the Kinky Wizzards, Sam Millar and the Sass Bandits, The Pagans SOH, Hallouminati, Soma Sons, Matt Hartless and the Maverick 7 and Love letters From Space.

Tickets are available now via Skiddle.

Tier 1 is sold out, tier 2 are available at £16.75 (15 + booking fee), while tier 3 are £19.50.

There will be limited availability on the door.
