MasterChef winner Simon Wood surprised a team of Bathroom Takeaway employees
Chadderton MasterChef winner Simon Wood surprised six unsuspecting employees with a lunch that they'll never forget.
The six colleagues from all different areas of Bathroom Takeaway were whisked over to Wood Restaurant in Manchester to enjoy a gourmet six course meal at the Chef’s Table.
Simon himself served them his signature dish that he first produced on BBC TV’s MasterChef programme back in 2015.
Katrina Edwards who has recently been promoted to Store Manager of the Bathroom Takeaway store, said: “I was so shocked when I was told that I would be replacing my sandwich with an amazing six-course sit down meal cooked by Simon Wood himself.
"I did feel slightly underdressed wearing my uniform but it really was an amazing experience and the food was incredible.”
Simon Harrington from Finance, Ben Day from Procurement, Beatriz Pardo from Marketing, Matt Hindley from the Customer Service team and Michal Michalski from the warehouse joined Katrina for this amazing experience.
Simon, now owner of Wood Restaurant, said: “We were delighted to welcome the “master team” from Bathroom Takeaway and are so pleased that they all enjoyed the experience.
"What a fantastic way to reward employees and we look forward to welcoming more businesses over the coming months.”
The team enjoyed a mouth-watering Tom Kha with king oyster, Scallops apple and black pudding, delicious venison tartare, with coal oil mayo and onion embers, tender ox cheek with truffle and madeira, Strawberry pine nuts and basil with palate cleansing pesto ice cream followed by Simon’s signature dish Citrus tutti-frutti which was an all team favourite.
Julian Smith, Managing Director of Bathroom Takeaway, said: “One of our key values is to do the unexpected and to always go the extra mile for our customers and colleagues.
"The reason we have such a high retention rate of staff is because we invest and reward our employees as often as we can.
"I’d like to thank Simon, Mike and his team for working with us on this and look forward to our next visit.”
