Pride in Oldham nominees, the staff at Royal Oldham Hospital ward G2.
A HELPFUL and dedicated team at the Royal Oldham Hospital have been nominated for a Pride in Oldham award.
Medical staff on the G2 gastro ward were nominated by an anonymous supporter who was grateful for the support he had received while on the ward.
He said: "I've had a really bad time recently but the medical staff on that ward were brilliant.
"If it wasn't for people like that, I wouldn't be here today.
"The staff were so supportive and friendly with the patients, and they work very hard.
"They are always professional in what they do and really deserve recognition for what they do.
"They really go above and beyond what their job calls for them."
The busy medical team treat patients on the ward for a wide variety of gastroenterological conditions from coeliac disease and stomach ulcers to liver disease and nutritional problems.
Christine Haslam, ward sister at The Royal Oldham Hospital, accepted the nomination on behalf of all the staff working on G2.
She said: "It is an honour to be nominated and to be recognised for the hard work and dedication provided by all of the team members who work on Ward G2 Gastro at The Royal Oldham Hospital.
"Central to our work are the patients in our care, and we strive to provide them with caring, compassionate, responsible, quality care at all times.
"The team on G2 includes nursing staff, student nurses, doctors, consultants, specialist nurses, dieticians, domestic staff, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, pharmacy technicians, administration staff and also healthcare support workers."
