A DEDICATED team has been nominated for a Pride in Oldham award for their hard work in Failsworth.
The Failsworth and Hollinwood District team, including Penny Kenworthy, Paul McCann, Jodie Hendry and Michael Fleming, were praised for their support, guidance and care of the community.
David Halliwell, of Dalton Street, who helps to run Malton Gardens Community Group said the team needs greater recognition for their efforts.
Nominated
District coordinator Ms Kenworthy said: "The nomination was a complete surprise and for me personally such a delight to inform the team that we had been nominated.
"We have been working with the project in and around Dalton Street for many years and have seen it grow from a small alleyway being cleaned up to a fully constituted group.
"As part of the council's co-operative agenda, our role is to support residents in doing their bit.
"With the Malton Gardens Community Group we have supported their ideas and provided guidance to ensure they met their objectives.
"My team have the ethos of no job is too big and put 110 per cent into helping our residents.
"This nomination is recognition of the work we have successfully done over the past four years.
"I am very proud of my team and look forward to future successes."
Mr Halliwell acknowledged the team for helping to print flyers, co-ordinating equipment for litter picks and arranging for rubbish to be collected following events.
He said: "We could not manage to do our work without the backing of the Failsworth District Team.
"They provide support and guidance, they are caring and have the whole community at heart.
"This team does not get the credit they deserve for all the hard work they do on making Failsworth a safer, cleaner environment to live in and that is why I am nominating them."
