FRIDAY is the night we celebrate the achievements of the borough’s usung heroes who go the extra mile to show they have Pride in Oldham.
The Chronicle’s awards ceremony, supported by our generous sponsors and partners, is now in its 14th year – and each time it throws up some heart-warming tales of those who overcome adversity or those who step up to the plate to help others.
This year is no exception, and on the following pages we highlight the finalists in each of the categories from dozens of individuals and groups nominated by you, the readers of the Chronicle. The shortlist was compiled by our team of judges.
The finalists, and their friends and families, will join invited guests and members of the general public at Friday’s glittering awards ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth Hall when the winners will be unveiled.
There are eight categories: Professional, Education, Health, Voluntary, Schools, Business, Groups and Special Achievement, decided by the judges, while the Readers’ Choice award is decided exclusively by a public vote.
There will also be two other trophies presented – the “Love Where You Live” award and the “Oldham Ambassador” award.
You can find out who won what in our Pride in Oldham special in Monday’s Chronicle.
