Terry Bruce
Making Oldham safer for everyone — that has been the achievement of nightclub manager and chairman of Oldham Pub Watch scheme Terry Bruce .
In just two years as chairman, 95 per cent of all licensed premises in the town centre have become members.
Not only that but he also established a data sharing scheme with Greater Manchester Police and other authorities, which shares pictures of offenders, vulnerable young people and missing children.
His commitment to improving Oldham’s night time economy and championing high standards and safety for pub staff and customers has earned him this nomination.
Crystal Faulkner
Oldham’s real life fairy godmother Crystal Faulkner is making dreams come true for countless sick children across the borough.
After setting up her business Princess Impersonations four years ago, the mum-of-three regularly dresses up as a fairytale character and visits children in hospital, attends events at no cost and meets with terminally ill children.
She also supports a number of local charities, including Oldham-based Jamie’s Something Special, and also finds time to style wigs and clean costumes.
George Street Chapel
Volunteers who bring the past to life at the 200 year old Grade II listed George Street Chapel have also received a nomination.
The group of 15 Age UK helpers re-enact historical roles and give in-character guided tours of one the oldest Methodist chapels in the world.
Their hard work and enthusiasm providing wonderful experiences to the public has been recognised.
