A GRATEFUL mum whose son spent the first 10 weeks of his life in hospital has praised staff who cared for her baby.
Emma O’Toole, who gave birth on May 17, has nominated staff in the Royal Oldham Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit for a Pride in Oldham Award.
Emma said: “The hospital has had so much negative press lately and I feel this unit should be recognised for the amazing work it does. From the cleaners and clerks to the nurses, doctors and consultants, each and every one goes above and beyond the duty of care.”
“My son was born on May 17, nearly 12 weeks early. He spent nearly 10 weeks on the ward. Not only did they save his life, but they reassured me and my partner. I’ll never be able to thank them enough, but hopefully this nomination will show them how much they are thought of.”
Yvonne Tunstall, divisional nurse director for Women and Children’s Services at The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust: said: “The team is committed to providing a high quality service as this can be an extremely stressful time for families. To be nominated is a great achievement for the team.”
