Paul and Gillian Johnson
Paul Johnson goes above and beyond the call of duty when caring for his wife Gillian, says his GP Dr Shagufta Perveen.
Dr Parveen nominated the 57 year old for a Pride in Oldham award on behalf of all staff and patients at the Littletown Family Medical Practice, Oldham.
Paul, who has mild learning disabilities, has been married to Gillian for 22 years. She is deaf and cannot speak, and suffers blackouts and epilepsy. Paul is her full time carer.
He said he was delighted to be nominated and enjoys daily trips out in the car with his wife to their local cafe in Middleton Road which she enjoys.
Dr Perveen said Paul, who lives in Rochdale Road, Royton, is brilliant with Gillian and loves and supports her at all times: “He is an absolute gem and does an unbelievable job. He goes above and beyond the call of duty.”
