Pride In Oldham Nominees at The Christie Oldham, with lead radiographer Julie Davis
STAFF at Oldham’s Christie cancer unit have been nominated for a pride in Oldham award.
The local Christie, which opened at the Royal Oldham Hospital in 2010, was the first in a series of satellite radiotherapy and chemotherapy centres linked to the headquarters in south Manchester, which is one of Europe’s leading cancer care centres.
Julie Davis, lead radiographer in Oldham, said: “It is really about the staff and how hard they work. It is their job but each one of them goes above and beyond what’s required of them.
“There are a lot of initiatives from staff and we get massive community support, which I’m delighted about. It’s about a group of people who go above and beyond for patients. They do it because they care.”
Stephanie Underhill, a community fundraising officer with the Christie Charity, said: “Working for the charity and visiting our Oldham site regularly, I’ve seen first-hand the skilled and professional manner in which the whole team works.”
