CARING cafe workers have been nominated for a Pride in Oldham award.

Staff at the Clock Cafe in the Ena Hughes Centre, Failsworth, have been singled out by their customers for the extra care and attention they show.

As well as providing good food at good prices for members of the community, staff also go the extra mile when taking care of their older customers. It is that special care and attention that prompted regular cafe-goer Josephine Jordan, from Chadderton, to nominate all the Age Concern workers for being extra specially helpful.

She said: “They are absolutely fantastic people, very caring and concerned for all the customers. There is a 95-year-old woman that goes in every day and they always have her salad and sandwich prepared. They even bought her flowers and chocolates for her birthday.

“The luncheon club they run on Sunday is completely full. They do a fantastic job for the community, particularly for the elderly.”

Stella Wilson, a member of staff, said: “The nomination is very nice, and it is nice that Jo has taken the time to nominate us. We do look after our customers — we do it with everyone and everyone gets treated fairly.

“The luncheon club provides a decent meal for a decent price.”
