A SADDLEWORTH woman who has found work placements for countless young people with learning difficulties and disabilities has been nominated for an award.

Janet Richmond, a work placement facilitator at Oldham College, has been nominated for a Pride in Oldham award for going out of her way to help youngsters.

In particular, she has shown employers and employees the benefits of employing a young person with disabilities.

Janet was nominated by her line manager Gill Gilling, who said: “She was new to the position two years ago and in that time has worked with over 100 prospective employers across Oldham and has sold them the benefits of working with young people with learning difficulties and disabilities.

“She has been a very positive role model. I think it’s really down to her excellent communication and personal skills. She’s so enthusiastic and genuine.”

Janet was lost for words when told of her nomination and said: “It’s like a bolt out of the blue.”

She added that she had helped too many students find work experience to calculate but that she is so enthusiastic because she enjoys her job and helping young people into work.
