STEVE HILL

THERE'S no stopping daring deputy head teacher Steve Hill MBE who continues to inspire generations of children with his amazing adventures and high octane fundraisers.

The year 6 teacher at St Joseph's RC Primary in Shaw is on a mission to motivate his pupils with a series of challenges including climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and taking part in the North Pole marathon.

As well as raising thousands of pounds for numerous charities, last year Steve (44) was awarded an MBE from the Queen for services to education and charity.

MALCOLM CAMPBELL

A STALWART of the school premises team at Royton and Crompton School - that is how Malcolm Campbell has been described by headteacher Neil Hutchinson.

Malcolm joined the school in 2009 at the age of 65 to cover a period of absence over the six weeks holiday, and never left.

Since then, the highly regarded caretaker who is always calm and smiling has become the 'backbone' of the school, regularly going above and beyond his job description, such as helping to dig the school out of snow and fixing staff member's windscreen wipers.

MARLENE ARMITAGE

DEDICATION to eduction is what long-standing school governor Marlene Armitage has given to the Oldham community during her 42 years in service.

Marlene, from Chadderton, has served as a governor of Parish Church Junior School since the 1970s, recently overseeing its successful amalgamation with St Stephen's to become Holy Cross CE Primary School.

She also served as a magistrate for 31 years and her services to the community were recognised by the Queen when she was awarded Maundy money.
