PC LEE CULLEN
TACKLING anti-social behaviour in Failsworth and drastically reducing reported incidents is just what PC Lee Cullen's visionary scheme has achieved.
PC Cullen set up Failsworth Youth Zone in January 2015, an initiative which saw police officers liaise with Oldham Council youth workers and staff from Mahdlo to create a safe space for teens. The Friday evening session proved such a hit that levels of anti-social behaviour dropped from 25 call outs a weekend to zero incidents at times.
Now run by Mahdlo, the Youth Zone offers young people from across the area and beyond a range of youth services.
OLDHAM YOUNG CARERS
YOUNG people across Oldham caring for sick or disabled relatives are receiving much needed help and support thanks to the dedicated team behind Oldham Young Carers.
Around 350 young people currently caring for loved ones who are unwell are accessing a range of services from one-to-one support or groups sessions, to day trips and social events.
The team of four consists of project manager Martin Sutton, volunteer co-ordinator Eric Osazee, and support workers Clare Boyle and Katy Peet.
