More and more elderly Oldham residents are taking advantage of the caring and dedicated services provided by local care agency Visiting Angels.
Diana and Sheina are two such clients.
Diana, who is 81, has lived in Dobcross with her son since her husband died.
Visiting Angels have recently been taking her out, and now Diana has added another call to her weekend routine so that she may enjoy her time outdoors.
Sheina is another happy client, and she wrote to the Chronicle to express her gratitude for the services provided by Visiting Angels.
Sheina wrote:
I was at a very low ebb last year about mid-October.
I had spent years looking after my husband who was increasingly falling, or collapsing and being unconscious., and gradually losing his memory. He is 92.
One day I had to go to bed in sheer exhaustion and very bad neuralgia which I have suffered all my life.
In desperation I looked on my I pad to see what sort of help I could get.
And that is when I found Dr Badar, manager of Visiting Angels, and his wife Roxie, Managing Director.
I can honestly say that they began helping my life, and George’s improved.
From the very beginning, they promised help in any ways .
They both called to visit us to introduce themselves and see what our care needs were.
Since then, they have sent a lovely girl, Khadijah, for three hours every week to help with my housework and help George in any way he wants.
She does jigsaws with him, takes him on little outings to the local shops, or just sits talking with him, which he loves.
As for me, she is like a new friend and is so willing to do anything for me.
It has been delightful to welcome the three of them here at Easter time, and they also came along to George’s little birthday party.
It was lovely to see them, and to welcome them as friends.
Nothing is out of the question for them to help.
Roxie and Badar impress on me they are only a phone call or text away.
I even, by mistake, pressed the wrong button on my mobile phone in the early hours of morning, and woke poor Roxie up.
She was as sweet as ever.
This couple run a very professional care in the home company and without having found them I would not be in this happier position now.
Through them I am now in contact with various help groups in social care etc, so things can only get better.
My heartfelt thanks to Roxie, Badar, and all your dedicated staff of true Angels.
Sheina
