A touching, generous-spirited initiative by a team of brownies has captured villagers' hearts.

Tracey Cragg, leader of the 2nd Oldham Greenfield Brownies, discussed with her 20-strong team what they could do as a good turn in the community and to make people smile.

They decided to plant pansies and the brownies would write random, personal notes offering cheer to the recipients.

Tracey explained: “A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day.

"We potted up the flowers and randomly delivered them across the village, each with one of the girls special messages.

“The messages were entirely the girls own choice of words and very very creative.

"I’m glad they have been so well received across the village.”

One note read: “This present is for you because you shine bright of any single person and you deserve it.”

Another read: “You shine like the sun you’re proud like a star no matter what people say always remember you’re loved.”

Earlier, the Brownies completed a litter pick around the local park to help the community and keep Greenfield looking beautiful.
