Brave Suzanne’s unique fundraiser

A courageous Saddleworth mother is determined to raise money for a charity to help research a rare neurological condition despite the coronavirus lockdown.

Suzanne Bradshaw from Diggle has been left paralysed and confined to a wheelchair by Transverse Myelitis, a crippling condition which horizontally inflames the spinal cord.

But backed by her resolute daughter, Amy Hamilton, the duo are staging a unique virtual fundraising  bakeless bake sale when people can donate a monetary amount for the cost of ingredients needed  to make any type of cake.

Initially, they were due to take their turn hosting a monthly coffee morning at Kiln Green Church, Diggle, linked with St. Chads Church ‘Away Giving’ coffee morning held at the Parish Centre, Uppermill.

And although coronavirus restrictions derailed their scheme, monies collected will go to the Transverse Myelitis Society  in London to provide funds for research into the condition and vital funds for physiotherapy for  children suffering the rare debilitating condition.

And anyone who donates will have their names placed in a draw taking  place early December, with a  chance  to win an original watercolour of  ‘ A Rare Hare’ painted by Mrs Bradshaw, see picture.

Meantime, totally separately, Caroline Tamworth, one of the Bradshaw family friends, is hosting a  raffle to win a much sought-after brand new 2020 Aldi Giant Kevin the Carrot!

Tickets cost £1 and the raffle will be drawn electronically on the evening of Wednesday, December 2. With one hundred per cent of all proceeds raised going to the Transverse Myelitis Society.

You can buy as many numbers as you like but due to Kevin’s size, you must be able to collect him from Uppermill or Caroline can drop him off in the Saddleworth area.
