Dobcross Band Club and Social Club
An iconic village band club has received a welcome cash windfall from the Coop Local Community Fund.
Dobcross Band Club made a successful application to the fund in an effort to supplement the award of £10,000 from the National Lottery, to support the refurbishment of the Club’s delipidated kitchen facilities.
The Co-op helps provide funding to local causes by encouraging members to nominate one of the chosen groups, who then receive a percentage of monies spent in store over a 12 month period.
Said Terry Lawless, Dobcross Band Club president: “ The current phase ended in late October and the Club is delighted to announce that we have been awarded the grand total of £1,243.28.
"The funding will go a long way to covering the cost of the white goods in the new kitchen and the installation of a new window, which provides one of the finest views in Saddleworth.Everyone at the Club would like to thank the Co-op for the opportunity to be a part of the fund and this has definitely been a high point in what has been a challenging year for everyone.”
