Has a Saddleworth village got a mystery team of Banksys at work?

A rash of beautifully hand-painted stones are appearing in strategic crevasses and locations in Delph, and are raising a smile among residents.

But the artists' identities are currently a closely-guarded village secret.

Said one villager: “The stones are marvellous.

"They each carry a note or a simple word - guaranteed to bring joy or a smile to your day.”

And the little stones have gained an audience on social media, with people posting their appreciation.

“They are mini works of art,” said one.

Some stones promote local businesses featuring little minions and animals.
