Collettes Dance Troupe
The Collettes Dancing Troupe compete all over the North West and is now the biggest it’s ever been with 96 dancers.
The team have just completed their season, competing in the ‘Great Oldham Dance off’ at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham.
The Tots who their section claiming, ‘Team of the Year’, the Tinies won the start of the season championships and the Juniors won the All England championships- which is held at the Blackpool Tower ballroom.
The biggest achievement of all was rewarded to the Seniors who won ‘Troupe of the Year’ and also ‘Overall team of the Year’.
The Oldham Evening Chronicle spoke to Gary Melia, an organiser of the group, he said, “We have a novice team made up of young ladies who have never danced before and they all managed to secure themselves a magical second place!
“It was amazing, everyone was overwhelmed. We have dancers from all backgrounds and some that are from deprived areas in Oldham, so the trips are the only holiday some have.
“It’s like one big family and it’s massive for helping people be social across the community as well.”
