Two insiprational women from Failsworth are taking on challenges in a bid to raise funds for Maggie's Oldham.
Denise Knott and her friend Carolyn Jones have taken on different challenges and have raised over £1000 between them for the well-known charity, that supports people and their families that are living with cancer.
Denise, who is the landlady of 'The Bay' pub in Failsworth- took on the challenge of losing 2-3 stone in weight to go on to be weighed at a 'live weigh' that will take place on Sunday 25th August. She has already lost 30lbs.
Denise said,"My charity 'slimathon' means I have to lose the weight by the August Bank Holiday. We will also be doing a charity day with a tombola, raffles and a bbq with music, so everyone is welcome to join in and we will let you know more about it."
Carolyn Jones, also Failsworth based has taken on the challenge of a 100k bike ride-covering areas in Stockport, Rochdale, Bury, Salford and Greater Manchester-where she has raised a total of £400 so far.
Carolyn said, "It was one of the toughest bike rides i've ever done but what kept me going was people recognising my 'maggies' top- as I was cycling around the boroughs".
Maggie's Oldham is full of qualified experts providing emotional support, places to meet other people and places where you can simply sit quietly with a cup of tea.
