Churches across Greater Manchester are preparing to welcome more people than ever to their Christmas services over the next few days.
From crib services, carols, Christingles and midnight mass, to services on Christmas Day, it’s easy to search online for a church near you and find the perfect service from over 646 listed.
The church-finder website - AChurchNearYou.com - now allows churchgoers to geolocate services close to them in real time, finding out which will feature carols and choirs.
Oldham Parish Church is extremely privileged to be hosting the live broadcast of its Christmas Day service on BBC1, from 10am.
The church was chosen because of the work it does in the community.
Viewers will hear about the work of the Oldham Street Angels, who work every weekend to help keep people safe on the streets during a night out.
They also run a drop-in for rough sleepers.
Check out the short film on preparations for the Christmas broadcast below.
Over the next week, Manchester Cathedral’s Choristers will sing to the thousands of people who will attend a Christmas service at Manchester Cathedral, including the Blessing of the Crib, Midnight Mass and the Christmas Day service as part of its Christmas tradition.
For details of the services and events taking place, please visit the Cathedral website: www.manchestercathedral.org.
