Welcome help for Roundthorn Salvation Army

Date published: 23 October 2018

Rotary Club of Oldham Metro President Jack Wild has presented Roundthorn Salvation Army Lieutenant Jonathan Pitts with a cheque for £478.

The monies will pay to equip the laundry room being set up at the Corp on Roundthorn Road.

The laundry room is part of the Local Community Outreach effort that Jonathan and his Salvation Army colleagues are making to provide homeless and underprivileged people with clothes washing facilities.

Jack was very impressed by the wonderful refurbishment work on the interior of the building.

"It's really really well done, warm, bright, inviting and purposeful," he said.

As well as a place of worship, the building and its facilities is becoming a diamond of a community centre with crèche, children play area, counselling, IT facilities and a great kitchen from which meals are served.

In Roundthorn and surrounding districts, the Salvation Army are trying to make a real difference, and Oldham Metro Rotary Club will hope to be part of that ongoing effort.
