Free film festival returns to Oldham

The festival will feature 12 short films from Iran, Italy, India, Spain, Nepal and Singapore
The fifth Sahar International Short Film Festival will take place on Saturday, November 3 at the Oldham Library performance space, from 12 noon until 4pm.
The festival will feature 12 short films from Iran, Italy, India, Spain, Nepal and Singapore.
Eleven talented, creative, innovative emerging filmmakers will showcase their material in the genre of fiction, animation, comedy, psychological thriller and with the themes of feminism, anti-war and migration, love and domestic violence.
The programme will open with ‘The Road Will Never End’ by Atena Mahmoudi and ‘Dream of the Lake’ by Arnau Olive Valls in the non-competition section.
A break follows before the competition section will be started with the contemporary Iranian cinema and international categories.
There will then be a short speech and question and answer session, voting time, and then the winners will be announced.
The festival management team are Oldham-based Mandana Ansari, Sahar Abolghasempour and Martin Gleeson.
Admission to the festival is free of charge again, with the films suitable for people aged 15 and over.
