Shining your shoes - pleasure or chore?

Wynsors World of Shoes in Oldham opened its doors to Mr Buff
New research out today by Wynsors World of Shoes has shown that 27% of Oldham residents never shine their shoes, with 12% going as far as buying new shoes to avoid the chore.
To encourage more local residents to give their shoes a new lease of life, Wynsors World of Shoes opened its doors to scuffed shoes in all shapes, sizes and colours this week, as a store hosted a pop-up shoe shine station to give the footwear of Oldham a new lease of life.
Colleagues at Wynsors teamed up with Cherry Blossom Shoe Care to train an in-store Mr Buff, an expert in the art of the shoe shine, to make customers think twice about throwing away a scuffed pair of shoes.
Local residents took their old shoes into store to receive their complimentary shoe shine from Mr Buff, using Cherry Blossom products, and received expert advice on how to make shoes look their best for longer.

Michelle Holmes, at Wynsors World of Shoes Oldham, said: “I was thrilled when I heard about Wynsors initiative to fight back against the culture of ‘disposable footwear’ and educate customers on how to really look after a pair of shoes to get the longest life possible out of them.
"It's great that we can share top tips with locals on how to make their shoes look their best.”
Nick West, National Account Manager at Cherry Blossom Shoe Care, said; “As the UK’s first and now only shoe polish manufacturer we’ve got a lot of knowledge to share and were thrilled when Wynsors approached us with the aim of bringing back the lost art of the shoe shine through a new role of ‘Mr Buff’.
“We find so few people who know how to look after their shoes when it comes to cleaning, polishing and protecting them against the elements, so we were happy to train up Wynsors’ new expert in shoe care.
“A good pair of shoes can last for years when looked after correctly, so a small investment in shoe care can really pay off in the long run.”
