Celebrity dancers took to the floor at the Queen Elizabeth Hall
There was a split decision between the judges and the public when celebrity dancers took to the floor in a good cause at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Amy Walsh, who plays Tracey Metcalf in the hit soap ‘Emmerdale’, came out on top with the judges, while ‘Housewives of Cheshire’ star Leanne Brown, wife of Sunderland former Manchester United footballer Wes Brown won the audience vote.
The evening, which also saw VIPs get up close and personal with the tv celebrities before the dance show, was organised by Shaw woman June Burns in aid of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice where her husband Russ had spent his final days.
The show, which also featured other celebrities including Emmerdale favourites Samantha Giles (Bernice), Joe Warren-Platt (Jacob), Laura Norton (Kerry) and Michael Praed (Frank) was hosted by two more from the soap world in Chris Chittell (Eric Pollard) and Liam Fox (Dan Spencer).
Meanwhile, the Hospice is appealing for schools, organisations and businesses who are able to act as selling points for their annual Duck Race.
The £1 tickets are now available in batches of 50 and anyone able to help make sure the Duck Race is a splashing hit on August 11 when the yellow plastic ducks are raced down the River Irk in Chadderton Hall Park (1.30pm).
The Hospice fundraising team are also looking for organisations and businesses to sponsor a £25 giant duck that can be decorated to take part in the corporate race Call 0161 624 9984 or email fundraising@drkh.org.uk to secure your corporate duck.
