Meet the Hills Angels – a team of women from furniture components business HPP taking-on a muddy obstacle course to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The team, whose name reflects the Oldham company’s full name of Hills Panel Products, is taking part in the Pretty Muddy event at Heaton Park on Saturday, July 14.
The fun challenge is part of the Race for Life series of women-only events held by Cancer Research UK to raise money for research into 200 types of cancer.
The Hills Angels ladies work in roles including sales, administration, accounts and HR.
They include Angela Hodgson, Michelle Topping, Tina Crossley, Nicole Aspinal, Caroline Barker, Carol Sadworth, Tracy Lees, Jessica Smith and Anna Hennessey.
Jessica said: “Quite a few people at HPP have family members or friends who’ve been effected in some way by cancer. So we think Cancer Research UK is a really good charity to get muddy for.
“The Pretty Muddy event on July 14 is a 5k-long course with mud thrown all over the obstacles.
"We’ll have to climb over things, crawl under, slide down or charge our way through loads of muddy obstacles. It should be good fun for a great cause.
“We’ve set up a fundraising website for the Hills Angels team and are circulating official sponsorship forms at HPP.
"Donating is really easy and we hope colleagues, customers, friends and family will support our efforts by donating to Cancer Research UK.”
To donate, please visit: fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/team/hills-angels-2 or call the team on 0161 628 1147.
Jessica, aged 20, said team members are preparing for Pretty Muddy in their spare time.
Training ranges from visiting the gym to going for walks.
She is a member of a gym in Oldham and has been doing cardio and running training.
A former Oasis Academy Oldham pupil, she has been with HPP for a year.
Pretty Muddy and Race For Life events are designed for women of all ages and abilities, with the 5km distance being ideal for beginners.
Women can enter in teams or as individuals and run or walk.
