Fingers crossed for Keira at London awards bash

Everyone at Dr Kershaw's Hospice will have their fingers crossed for a very special fundraiser next week.

For 10-year-old Keira Arnold will be travelling to London with members of her family and Hospice staff to attend the prestigious National Institute of Fundraising Awards.

Keira formed her ‘Keira’s Wishes’ charity to fund final wishes for Hospice patients - in memory of her father who passed away at the Turf Lane hospice in Royton when she was only four years old.

The talented youngster from Derker has come up with a whole host of fundraising initiatives – the latest have included selling Unicorn dreamcatchers at the Summer Fair and organising an angling competition.

So far she has raised over £6,000 and her exploits saw her named as a finalist in the volunteer category at the national awards.

On Friday, July 13, Keira is back in the spotlight when she is  also a finalist at the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care awards dinner at the Museum of Science and Industry.
