Chief Executive Joanne Sloan has taken the opportunity of National Volunteer Week (June 1-7) to issue a heartfelt thanks to the hundreds of volunteers who help out at Dr Kershaw's Hospice.
From the Turf Lane reception and tea trolley service to van drivers and assistants in the Hospice’s five shops across the borough, there are many who give of their time to help keep costs down.
Said Joanne: “It is important that we acknowledge all our fantastic volunteers for the dedicated support they give to Dr Kershaw’s and the love and laughter they bring every day.
“Their commitment and effort does not go unnoticed. A massive thank-you to all you wonderful people from myself and everyone at the Hospice.”
Meanwhile, the Hospice Lottery team has been celebrating after reaching the milestone of 12,000 participants in the draw that sees a £1,000 winner every week and a host of smaller prizes.
Lottery Manager Jo Penketh said: “The support we receive from the people of Oldham and beyond is quite amazing and the continued growth of the lottery is a vital strand to our income generation needed to make sure that we can afford the very best for our patients.
“Our mission statement is to add quality to the lives of with life-limiting illnesses and those who support the Lottery do this every week of the year and the continued support is most humbling.”
DON'T FORGET, Sunday, June 10 (and definitely NOT today) sees the Hospice grounds play host to the annual Summer Fair.
With a host of stalls and activities the 12noon-4pm event is fun for all the family. It's just £1 entry.
