Emmaus Mossley staff celebrate their award nomination
Homelessness charity Emmaus Mossley is celebrating after being shortlisted in the prestigious Charity Retail Awards 2018.
Emmaus Mossley’s Secondhand Superstore is a finalist in the Charity Shop of the Year category, along with two other charity shops.
The Secondhand Superstore, based in Mossley, sells donated and upcycled furniture, household goods, clothes and vintage wares, with all proceeds used to support people affected by homelessness.
The Charity Retail Awards shortlist has now been announced and this year’s awards, sponsored by charity retailer solutions provider Nisyst, is the biggest in the Charity Retail Association’s history.
Alison Hill, Director of Emmaus Mossley, said: “We are over the moon to have been shortlisted in this year’s Charity Retail Awards.
"This national recognition is a credit to everyone who is part of the Emmaus Mossley community and all those companions, local volunteers and staff who work tirelessly to make our Secondhand Superstore a great place to visit.
“I would also like to thank all the generous people who shop at Emmaus Mossley and donate items to support our work.
"It is vital that we continue to receive this support so that we can help even more homeless people get back on their feet.”
Emmaus Mossley supports 26 formerly homeless people by providing them with a home and work in a community setting.
The Emmaus Mossley Secondhand Superstore not only generates an income to help sustain the charity, it also offers work and training opportunities to people supported at Emmaus.
Robin Osterley, Charity Retail Association CEO, said: “We are delighted to see Emmaus's Secondhand Superstore in Mossley make it onto the Charity Shop of the Year shortlist.
"Emmaus has proved to the judging panel that their Mossley outlet is up there with the best in the country.
"We wish them the best of luck in our awards night.”
The Charity Retail Award winners will be announced during a ceremony at the Colwick Hall Hotel in Nottingham on June 25, as part of the Charity Retail Association Conference and Exhibition.
