Local RSPCA in line for funding boost

Date published: 16 May 2018

Pets at Home is celebrating the anniversary of its VIP Club by making a share of £500,000 available to animal charities across the UK.

Among those in the running for the funding is Bury, Oldham and District RSPCA, a local cause to the retailer’s Oldham store, on the Elk Mill Retail Park.

Bury, Oldham and District RSPCA will use any funding to support their ongoing projects.

Every time a member of Pets at Home’s free-to-join VIP Club makes a purchase and swipes their VIP card they collate Lifelines; points from the purchase which are converted into donations for 630 charities nationwide, including Bury, Oldham and District RSPCA.

There are over six million club members who collectively own 10 million pets who are all helping to raise much needed funds for fantastic causes.

Pets at Home wants to offer these charities even more support which is why it has released an extra half a million pounds of support.

To obtain this funding, which also includes cash donations, charities need to secure as many votes as possible from Pets at Home customers and their own supporters between May 2 and 31, 2018, either online or instore.

One larger national charity will receive £52,500, including £50,000 cash from Lifelines funding.

Then, within each store’s region, one local cause will secure £5,000 with £2,500 of Lifelines, a second will secure £2,500 with £2,500 of Lifelines and a third will win £1,000 in cash with £1,000 of Lifelines.

Ten runners-up in each region will also receive £250 funding via Lifelines.

Nathan Reynolds, store manager at Pets at Home Oldham , said: We’re so proud that our customers are able to use their purchasing power to support the great work these animal charities do up and down the country, as well as locally via the fantastic Bury, Oldham and District RSPCA.

"We’d love for our local cause to be among the winners that secure a share of the £500,000 that’s up for grabs and encourage our customers and Oldham  animal lovers alike to vote to support their favourite charities before May 31.”
