Oldham East and Saddleworth MP Debbie Abrahams has held a Dementia Friends session at Springlees Court, in Springhead, for a group of residents keen to learn more and how you can help to create dementia friendly communities.
Mrs Abrahams, who is trained as a Dementia Friend and was the first MP to be trained as a Dementia Friends Champion, said: “It’s always a real delight to visit my friends at Springlees Court and Dunsford Court where the residents and staff are always so welcoming.
“Making Oldham and Saddleworth the most dementia friendly place in the UK is one of my top ten priorities for the constituency and, if Springlees is anything to go by, we’re well on the way to achieving that as everyone there is so keen to be part of the process.”
Adele Jones, manager of Springlees Court, said: “Dementia Friends is a great initiative and it’s very important for everyone to learn more about dementia and the small ways we can all help, it was a great session.
“Creating a dementia friendly environment is something both residents and staff are very keen to achieve so having the chance to discuss the issue with Debbie, in a relaxed and fun session, is really useful and something I’d encourage other organisations to try out."
