Keen fundraiser Gemma Clark is hoping to raise lots of money for children's charity Barnardo's after organising a sponsored walk around Hollingworth Lake.
The event takes place on Saturday, June 23, and forms part of 'The Big Toddle', a Barnardo's annual initiative which aims to raise funds that will help towards transforming the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children.
GP receptionist Gemma, aged 27, is a wife and mum of three children under three years of age.
She has always been a dedicated fundraiser as she suffered with acute lymohoblastic leukaemia as a youngster and as a result she has done a sponsored swim, a '10 years well' fundraising party and many more fundraising events for 'Children with Cancer'.
At the age of 23, Gemma and her husband were told there was a chance it would be difficult for them to conceive due to her past medical history, and also because Gemma had some abnormal cells on her cervix which were picked up on a routine smear test.
However, she defied the odds and gave birth to her three beautiful children between 2015 and 2018 two beautiful girls called Emily and Eilidh and a handsome little boy called Alexander.
Four years later, fundraising has proved to be a little bit more difficult as she now has three children to care for and bring up.
However, she came across the Barnados 'Big Toddle' and figured it would be a fantastic opportunity as she can involve her children into her fundraising passion.
The Big Toddle is an event which involves walking around a certain route with children under five dressed in the theme for the year, which this year is nature and animals.
People can donate by attending the walk (£4 per adult and £3 per child).
Gemma also has a Just Giving page, which is: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thebigtoddlehollingworthlake
There is also a public event page on Facebook.
