Welcomed with open arms at Avalon Park

The Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Shadab Qumer, joined HC-One’s Avalon Park facility in Oldham to celebrate the sixth annual Care Home Open Day.

Care Home Open Day is a national event that gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the services at the heart of their community.

This year’s theme is ‘Linking Our Community’, and HC-One decided to launch a ‘Big Sing’, with HC-One homes across the country forming their own choirs with residents, their loved ones, colleagues and neighbours.

The choirs will sing ‘You Are My Sunshine’ at the same time, creating a ‘Big Sing’ that brings HC-One homes across the country together in unison.

To celebrate in style, Cllr Qumer joined the home in an elegant afternoon tea and a raffle was drawn which raised £55 towards the residents fund.  

The Mayor was given a tour of the home and met with Residents and colleagues to see first-hand the kind care being delivered.

Avalon Park Home Manager Amy Robertson said: “We would like to extend a huge thank you to Councillor Qumer for taking the time out of his busy schedule and visiting the home on this wonderful occasion.
