Young fundraiser Keira Arnold has been commended for her efforts by the High Sheriff of Lancashire.
Ten-year-old Keira has been raising money for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice to honour the memory of her dad Stephen, who passed away at the Hospice when she was only four.
Her determination to raise cash in a variety of different ways has led the formation of the ‘Keira’s Wishes’ fund to help make a patient’s last wishes come true.
And her efforts came to the attention of the awards committee running the Young Citizen Awards for the Lord Sherriff Robert Webb and she has now received a commended certificate.
So far Keira, from Derker, has raised over £2,000 and this weekend is holding a sponsored dance with her friends as the pre and half-time entertainment at Oldham Rugby League Club’s home game with York City Knights.
Keira called at the Hospice to pick-up collection tins for the rugby event and Hospice fundraiser Vicky Stackhouse surprised her by presenting her with the well-deserved certificate.
