Captain Dave leads from the front at Oldham Gems

The Brian Radcliffe Trophy is one of the top competitions for the ever-busy Oldham Golf Club Gems (Gentlemen Elderly Members) in which they play over eight rounds.
It’s getting near to the finish as they played the seventh round and Captain Dave Taylor led in with 19 from Geoff Beard 18 and John Wood and Mike Smith both 15.
The team competition again saw Dave in the mix as he joined Brian Best and Paul Street to post a winning 47 and he also had a two to complete a top day.
Next up for the Gems was the Autumn Shield a BB Stableford, and the dynamic duo of Mike Smith and John Wood led in with 45, just clear of Geoff Beard and Brian Spary 44 and Brian Best and Vic Brown 43.
The Club Championship at Saddleworth was played over two rounds and it was a family affair as Adam Rowbotham was crowned champion with 142 ahead of Paul Rowbotham 244 and Lee Rowbotham 145.
The Subsidiary Stableford was won by Mark Hatton 42 two more than Jeff Platt and Stuart Hanson.
Saddleworth ladies played the Marian Read Stableford and Julie Jackson led in with 37 from Angela Gerrard 35 and Pam Taylor 32.
A singles medal at Crompton and Royton had Mark Sinfield in control of division one with 69, one less than Andrew Hilldrup Ryan O’Leary and Steven Costigan.
It was also close in division two with Matthew Haynes on top with66 from David Weldon 67 and in division three Darren Todd-Nicholls led in with 70.
