Avro FC to honour Oldham’s key workers

In combination with the free season tickets, Avro FC will dedicate next season's away kit to our NHS heroes
Local non-league football club, Avro FC, is to pay tribute and honour Oldham’s key workers by offering free season tickets to key workers for next season's North West Counties Football League Premier Division campaign.
In combination with the free season tickets the club, who play their home games at the Vestacare Stadium on Whitebank Road in Limeside, will dedicate next season's away kit to our NHS heroes.
They have decided to run a competition to design next years change strip, to be worn by all over the North West at away games at the semi-professional club, with the brief that reference must be made to the now famous NHS Rainbow.
Charlie O’Brien, Matchday Operations Director at Avro FC, said: “We wanted to give our thanks to the incredible key workers who have kept our country running over the last few months with their hard work and dedication.
“So, we settled on doing two things to show our support.
"Firstly, all key workers will be entitled to a free season ticket for 2020/21 campaign, giving them free entry to all league games played at the Vestacare Stadium.
“And secondly, we’re going to literally show our support by dedicating our away kit to our NHS heroes.
"We ran a competition to design the away kit, with the brief that it has to pay tribute to the NHS rainbow in one way or another.
“The winner of the competition will be picked by our club committee and announced on the club’s social media channels by the end of May.
"The away kit will be worn all over the North West next season by our senior team on the road.
“We’re hoping that next season, whenever it comes, that we’ll be able to have a huge celebration of our key workers.
"When it’s finally safe to do so, we want as many of you there with us so we can say thanks, be together and enjoy some hardworking non-league football.”
Commenting on the decision to offer the free season tickets and dedicate their kit to NHS Heroes, local MP Jim McMahon said: “What a fantastic scheme Avro FC have put together here.
"During this crisis we really have seen the very best of our community come our and help each other where we can.
“The free season ticket for key workers is a great way of showing thanks, but for me the most exciting part of this is that next seasons away kit will be dedicated to our NHS heroes.
"I can’t wait to see the designs submitted by the community and the eventual winner.”
The free season ticket offer is open to all key workers in Oldham and North Manchester.
