Oldham Seals show off their silverware
Swimming
Oldham Seals have won the Central Lancashire Jubilee League title.
The Seals finished top of a league containing 16 teams, and triumphed as they hosted a top four play off ‘A’ Final for the Championship.
The atmosphere was buzzing as all four teams – Seals, ORCA, Atherton and Leigh and Flixton - took part in the traditional pre-gala play-off competition.
Seals got off to a shaky start, falling well behind after five races, with ORCA and Flixton taking up first and second places early on.
Seals showed great character and fought back to gain a seven-point lead at the mid-way point, with ORCA hot on their heels in second.
A two horse race took hold as Seals and ORCA battled it out with the scores remaining close throughout the second half of the gala.
Some of the swimming on show was nothing short of spectacular, with all four teams giving it everything they had .
Strength in depth was key for Seals, as important wins in most relays helped make sure Seals hung on for the trophy.
Well done to head coach Jo, team manager Craig and all pool-side helpers and amazing Committee members.
