On the brink of title glory

Golf round-up
Ashton are on the brink of lifting the A Premiership title in the Oldham Golf League only a year after gaining promotion to the top flight.
Martin Wild’s men beat Blackley 8-0 at home and now need only two points in their final game at C&R to ensure the trophy goes to Hurst Cross.
And even if they were to come up empty handed Denton and Werneth would both need 7-1 or 8-0 wins respectively in their final clash to overhaul the deficit.
In the stunning win over Blackley the points came courtesy of Andy Lomas and Sam Carroll (1 up), Glyn Taylor and Simon Craig (3&2), Mike Kelly and the captain (3&1) and Josh Ainscough and Jacob Hall (3&1).
Blackley’s blank also condemned them to relegation to the championship next season alongside Dukinfield and C&R.
The semi final line-up in the B Divisions has been confirmed with Stamford pulling off a 6-2 away win in their outstanding fixture at Saddleworth to take over top spot in the B West from Oldham and give them home advantage against Blackley while Oldham will now have to travel to B East winners Dukinfield.
