Bradburn is North Man's talisman
Date published: 25 June 2018
Andy Bradburn is becoming a talisman for North Manchester ‘B’ as they booked their place in the semi-finals of the Oldham and District Golf League’s ‘B’ Cup with a thrilling 3-2 win over Castle Hawk at Saddleworth.
Having holed the winning putt on the 18th for a 3-2 win in round one, Bradburn was at it again in the quarter-final tie but this time had to go to the 20th green before he and partner Marcus Wood clinched it in the gathering gloom.
It had been an amazing game with North clinching two wins (1up and 3&2) before Castle Hawk took the third on the 19th through Dave Trow and Nick Simpsonand.
Then, Nathan Mills and Pete Majerski came from five down with six to play to even it up at 2-2 on the 20th.
In the end it all proved in vain for Tony Proctor’s men as North took the decider.
They will now face Crompton and Royton B after they beat Ashton 4-1 at North Manchester with wins for Andrew Eames and Mark Wilmore (2&1), Barry Anderson and Ian Harrop (5&4), Barry McLaughlin and Liam Grogan (2&1) and Pete Boxtock and Mark Roberts (1up).
Oldham sealed a 3-2 over Brookdale at C&R and now face Dukinfield who saw off Denton 4-1 at Ashton.
In the A Cup, Stamford hammered Brookdale 5-0 at Blackley and await the winners of the postponed tie between Denton and Werneth.
They play at Brookdale tomorrow (Tuesday).
Ashton saw off C&R 4-1 and now face Dukinfield, 3-2 victors over Blackley at Denton.
