Ashton return to summit despite defeat

Ashton lost their unbeaten record in the Premier Division of the Oldham and District Golf League - but still went back to the top.

That was because while they were losing 6-2 at Denton, rivals Werneth were crashing 7-1 at C&R;

It makes for a really tight division as Blackley forced themselves back into the mix with a 6-2 home success over Dukinfield.

In the A Championship, Brookdale were satisfied with a 4-4 away draw at Oldham  but their lead at the top was cut to two as North Manchester blitzed Stamford 8-0.

The B Divisions are proving ultra competitive with almost half the games so far ending in 4-4 draws.

Dukinfield broke out with a 6-2 win over Blackley to knock them off the top of the B East, while Stamford still lead the West after a 6-2 victory over North that was helped by two wins on the last green.
