Werneth are in great form in the Oldham and District Golf League's A Premier Division
Werneth produced a second successive 7-1 home win in the Oldham and District Golf League's A Premier Division.
New captain Chris Cordwell saw his charges complete three wins and a half in their clash with Blackley to close within two points of early pacesetters Ashton.
Their 100 per cent record came to and end when held 4-4 at home to Dukinfield - who have now drawn their first three games of the new season.
And reigning champions Denton were delighted to come away from C&R with a 5-3 away win - and it could have been even better with a short putt missed on the final green.
It's now North Manchester leading the way in the promotion race in the A Championship where the top three head back to the Premier Division after Paul Keogh's team beat Oldham 7-1 at Rhodes.
Dukinfield's 6-2 home win over Ashton took them to the top of the B East and they are joined there by Blackley's who whitewashed Werneth.
But Castle Hawk's stay at the top of 'B' West ended dramatically as they lost 7-1 at home to new leaders Stamford.
And Saddleworth look like they may be for a better season than of late as they clocked up their second win in three outings.. the latest 6-2 at home to Brookdale.
