Oldham businesses invited to council's first Green Summit

Date published: 25 February 2024

Businesses with an interest in sustainability are invited to Oldham Council's first-ever Green Summit.

The event will help local organisations work together to tackle climate change, share best practice and find out about green grants and financial support.

It's being organised by Cllr Abdul Jabbar MBE, Cabinet Member for Finance and Corporate Resources - which includes Green New Deal.

He said: "We’re working hard to be the greenest borough in Greater Manchester and we’re making great progress, but we recognise this has to be a collective effort.

"We know your business or organisation will also have your own carbon neutral targets, and we want to support you to reach them.

"As a council, we want to work with all businesses and organisations in the borough, no matter how big or small, to help you achieve your net zero target, while at the same time helping you to generate power from renewable sources and save money on energy bills."

The Green Summit builds on the council’s Green New Deal - our strategy to make council buildings and street lighting carbon neutral by 2025, and for the borough as a whole to be carbon neutral by 2030.

The event is free to attend and takes place on Friday, March 8, from 9am-1pm, at Oldham Event Centre, Boundary Park, off Hilbre Avenue, Oldham, OL2 5BL.

There's free parking, refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Places are limited, so if you are interested in coming along, please email: invest@oldham.gov.uk as soon as possible to reserve your place.
