Previously owned shelving and racking is being offered by a local firm of automotive storage specialists as a cost-saving solution amid the current economic climate.
The innovative offer comes from Linco Automotive and is a by-product of its unique buy-back promise to customers - whereby the Oldham-based firm demonstrates the faith in its storage solutions by agreeing to re-purchase shelving and racking it has installed if the client no longer needs it.
Linco Automotive MD, Paul Booth, said: “We’ve been seeing companies tightening their belts for months now, so a focus on being able to offer good quality, pre-owned storage equipment is sharper than it’s even been.
"There’s also the sustainability element to consider in this day and age, so the fact we are recycling perfectly good, aesthetically pleasing equipment is another good reason to do this.”
The latest development means the business has invested in larger premises, moving from its 2,400 sq. ft base at Saddleworth Business Centre to a neighbouring 4,500 sq. ft unit complete with mezzanine floor, which will not only provide extra workspace, but also a new showroom and offices.
“These are tough times, but we have decided to invest in the future, and with this offer we are helping to support our customers in tough times too,” said Paul, who together with his Sales Director, Lee Satloka, has a combined experience of more than 50 years in the automotive aftermarket industry.
“With interest rates going up, the requirement to spend less than you once would has become a new imperative.
"The price difference between new and pre-owned shelving and racking is approximately 25 per cent, and that could be a welcome saving for many companies.
“Everything we are supplying was installed by us in the first place.
"When we get the equipment back, we thoroughly examine it to certify that it’s in good physical condition, structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing.
"We can totally vouch for its integrity and clients can come to us in person to inspect it, or we can do it via a video call.”
Another expansion for the business is the appointment of an experienced business development manager in Alex Chambers, who joins Linco Automotive with extensive knowledge from the automotive logistics sector.
Linco Automotive is a specialist partner with SSI Schaefer, one of the world’s leading storage equipment manufactures, and holds approved storage supplier status for 11 of the top 25 motor groups in the UK, operating domestic and commercial vehicle dealerships for brands such as Jaguar Land Rover, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW and Mercedes Benz.
SSI Schaefer’s shelving and racking systems are specifically designed for the automotive aftermarket sector, and benefit from galvanised steel components that are both strong and durable, thanks to a protective coating that stops corrosion.
Critically, it is easily adjusted – there are no nuts, bolts or screws – and is totally scalable, which makes it adaptable, user-friendly and future-proof.
All new installations carried out by Linco Automotive use SSI Schaefer systems, although its teams can also reconfigure systems from manufacturers such as Bosal, Dexion and Europe Racking.
While most of the used equipment being recycled is made by SSI Schaefer, some from other manufacturers is available too.
As well as shelving and racking, other solutions offered by Linco Automotive include mezzanine floors, partitions, automated storage such as carousels, work lockers and hazardous substance storage
