New burger joint to open in Oldham

The flagship 'Burger Co' store opens in Oldham on Saturday
Two Oldham men are set to open a specialist burger restaurant and takeaway on the premises of a converted pub.
They have spent more than £50,000 refurbishing the building.
This Saturday (December 10), to celebrate the launch of their flagship 'Burger Co' store, they are offering 50% off all burger meals.
Mansoor Khan and his business associate Rizwan Alam both have a unique skill set which make them ideal business partners.
Rizwan’s passion for food and Mansoor’s marketing knowledge motivated them to try and establish themselves in the Oldham fast-food market.
Both born and raised in Oldham, they have experience of eating out and wanted to contribute to Oldham’s thriving fast food eateries with something that really stood out.
They had the idea for smash burgers six years ago.
Unfortunately, at the time, they didn’t have the funds and franchises were too expensive.
Rizwan, a chef, said: “We started making burgers for family and friends and everyone loved them.
"We held a charity event three years ago and people loved the burgers so much they kept coming back for more.
"We sold 600 burgers in under three hours.
“We set about finding a location, and discovered 300 Manchester Street, formerly the Queens Hotel pub.
"Due to its rich history we wanted to preserve the heritage of the building by offering something unique to the Oldham community."
Both business partners have always had a love for charity and contributing back to the community, and as a result they have approached local charity organisations to offer a ‘day of giving’ when all proceeds from sales will go towards needy local causes.
“In the future we hope to open a not-for-profit fast food store to help families who are struggling to make ends meet.
"It’s sad when we hear that people living in the UK can’t afford to eat out even once a month,” Mansoor added.
