Professional Oldham welcomes guests to Dr Kershaw’s new Furniture Hub store for a relaxing networking event.

Date published: 01 July 2022

With the sun shining brightly the Professional Oldham team invited businesses to meet, mingle and network in the new store on Thursday 23rd June.

With entertainment from musical duo Phil McArdle & Daz Mckenna, guests were welcomed to The Hub to see how Dr Kershaw's have expanded their sales oferings to the public to help raise vital funds to support the essential work of the Hospice.

Rebecca Bentham, Director of Income Development and Marketing at the Hospice explained to the guests that the new store that opened in November 2021 has been a welcome addition to the organisation's three hospice shops.

Rebecca added "The Furniture Hub is part of Dr Kershaw’s expansion plans to open up a broader range of stores across Oldham. The support from our volunteers is essential, as is the kindness of the community who have enabled our plans to become a reality."

The new Furniture Hub is located five minutes from the Hospice in Neo House on Shaw Road and now allows the hospice to offer those larger items that the regular shops cannot display due to space and access restrictions. With a large selection of lounge, dining and occasional furniture on display, the funds generated by these sales help support the running of the hospice. The shop also features a coffee area serving hot drinks and snacks.

Member of the Professional Oldham organisation team Glenn Drake-Owen added “There are many ways to find new contacts and build relationships but when you are self-employed, running a firm, or working every hour to make your business a success it doesn’t leave much time for meeting new contacts and building on existing ones.

The purpose of the group is to introduce local businesses to each other in an informal no-pressure environment and to grow business contacts and local knowledge and share experiences, strengthen, and evolve.”

Professional Oldham is a not-for-profit group with a steering committee of volunteers from local businesses. For every ticket purchased, a donation is made to the Hospice to provide patient care.

Professional Oldham is a great way to add value to your marketing strategy; not only does it help widen your circle of contacts, but it can also keep you in touch with what is going on providing a sociable platform for doing business and learning from one another.”
