HPP highlights career choices at Oldham Jobs Fair

FURNITURE components manufacturer and distributor Hills Panel Products (HPP) highlighted its wide range of career and training opportunities when it took part in the Oldham Jobs Fair – and also met the Mayor and Youth Mayor of Oldham.

The jobs fair at Queen Elizabeth Hall highlighted the variety of careers, apprenticeships and work experience openings with employers in Oldham and across Greater Manchester.

The event caters for people of all ages who may be looking for their first job, want to boost their skills or are seeking new challenges.

From its base in Scottfield Road, Oldham, and second distribution centre in Sheffield, HPP serves the national kitchen and bedroom fitting industry, manufacturing its own products and additionally distributing others from major international brands.

The company has over 2,000 UK trade customers and employs over 200 staff.

Carole Hamnett-Sadler, the company’s HR manager, plays a key role in recruitment, apprenticeships and training activities at HPP.

The business worked closely with James Ogborn at Oldham Council on the Jobs Fair. 

At the event, HPP staff chatted with visitors about the different careers and departments at the company. 

Dan Mousey, HPP marketing manager, was among the team and said: “Typical opportunities at our company cover a variety of roles including furniture panel manufacturing, factory maintenance, warehousing, logistics, financial accounts, IT, website development, sales and marketing.

There are some great opportunities with our growing business.”

The Jobs Fair is part of Oldham Council’s Get Oldham Working programme to promote employment, skills and training opportunities.

Other partner organisations include Jobcentre Plus, the National Careers Service, Ingeus and People Plus. 

Other employers at the event included home furniture retailer Housing Units, Manchester Airport Academy, Wilmott Dixon, Metrolink, O2, Greater Manchester Police, North West Ambulance Service, Guinness Housing, brewer and pub-owner Mitchells & Butlers, Sainsbury’s, Debenhams and Primark.
