It all started in Terry's back bedroom in 1969
For any company in the current climate to last a few years in quite the achievement, which makes Liversidge Windows and Double Glazing’s 50th anniversary quite remarkable.
For half a century they company, based at The Belgrave Mill on Fitton Hill Road in Oldham, has been supplying windows, Conservatories, doors and porches to the people of the area, but turn the clock back 50-years and, as owner Terry Liversidge says, it all started from humble beginnings.
"Fifty years, time really does fly. I can still clearly remember the very first window the business made. It was in June 1969, an order from a firm of pattern makers who where on Landsdowne Road in Oldham.”
“It was a Georgian style window and the only place I could possibly make it was the back bedroom of a terraced house I was living in at the time which was in Vine Street in Chadderton. In fact, I was born in that house.”
Back in 1969 the industry was slightly different to the uPVC one we see today “Windows at the time where of course all wood, so I duly set about the task with my hammer, saw, half inch wood chisel and a pot of boiling fish glue.” Added Terry.
Fast forward 50 years and the company is now in the safe hands of their long-standing employees with over 25+ years of experience and knowledge working in the industry.
Liversidge Windows currently supply to builders and those in the trade and offer additional benefits such as a ten-year guarantee, giving customers piece of mind for the next decade, they’re also members of QANW which is National Warranties Insurance back Guarantee, which means any money paid in advanced is automatically protected.
As you would expect for a company running for 50-years, Liversidge have gathered themselves a very loyal and solid customer base who benefit from their second to none aftercare sales team.
The company is a proud member of FENSA which provides all the proof you need that replacement windows and door installations meeting building regulations and could put solicitors asking awkward questions should you ever come to sell your home.
From those humble beginnings at the back of Terry Liversidge’s back bedroom to the showroom they have on Fitton Hill Road, 50-years has certainly been good to those at Liversidge Windows and Double Glazing, which are manufactured to EN1279, with the only thing to do now is keep on with the great work and look forward to the next 50-years.
