Hurrah! Bank on a right royal knees up

WHAT KATI DID NEXT:
SO, the memorabilia is already on the shelves. The cups, the saucers, the tea towels.
Gawd bless the royal wedding eh? A good ol’ knees up, that’s what we’ll need come April 29, 2011.
Or will it be? Lord only knows what sort of state this country will be in next year, with all the cuts, sorry, austerity measures going on.
Oh that’s right, we are better off now than we have ever been, according to Sir Tory Toff of London Town. Not sure he’s been round our way recently or indeed turned up to see the latest rounds of job cuts, just before Christmas as well.
No, come on, he’s right, we need to stop moaning and hey, why not get ourselves involved in the royal wedding.
In fact, rather than clog up the streets with our new-found unemployed maybe they could be employed making more cups, saucers and tea towels with the faces of the happy couple plastered all over them.
I am, of course, being cynical. The royal family brings a lot of money to this country and apparently tourists will be crossing our borders like rats to be part of “our” big day.
Oops there I go, being cynical again. It’s not all about money, no it’s about romance and true love and £12.5 million quids worth of security, that we, the taxpayers are having to stump up.
I can’t help myself can I?
Right, let’s start from scratch. They seem like a lovely couple, in fact they seem very much in love with each other which makes a pleasant change from the “whatever love is” comment from the boy’s father 20 years ago.
She seems to be fully aware of the “job” and all it entails and he seems pretty happy with the package he has bagged, a pretty package she is, is she not?
And although shes not one of them, she sounds like she is, which is good enough nowadays.
We all get another bank holiday, which means if we book three days, we get a full two weeks off, which in my mind is nothing short of genius.
Whether you choose to celebrate the day, or go abroad for a long holiday, we must be grateful to the happy couple. So let’s raise a self-embossed teacup to them both. Congrats.
