Oldham Parish Church (OPC) runs a popular community café every Wednesday morning from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
Due to its success, they have announced that they will expand the service to Thursdays as well, starting this week, providing even more opportunities for locals to connect.
Fr Daniel Burton, the Vicar of Oldham Parish Church, said: “The Parish Church belongs to the people of Oldham, and we want everyone to feel welcome, regardless of their faith.
"Our café is a way to offer hospitality, creating a safe and warm space for all.”
Rev Hannah Currin, OPC's curate, added: “For years, the Salt Cellar Café was a beloved community space, but since its closure, there has been a gap.
"We’re thrilled to offer a place for both nourishment and connection, providing food for the soul as well as the body.”
The café’s welcoming atmosphere has been a hit, offering a space for conversation, companionship, and support.
With the expansion to Thursdays, the church hopes to continue offering a vital community resource.
OPC is also seeking volunteers who are committed to helping run this initiative and contribute to the growing success of the café.
Volunteers will play a crucial role in ensuring the café remains a friendly and inclusive space for all who visit.
Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a warm drink, a chat, and a moment of peace.
Oldham Chronicle chief Matt Ramsbottom, who attends services at OPC and fully backs the new cafe opening hours move, said: "Oldham Parish Church is my regular church.
"It has helped me greatly over the last few months, and I wanted to give something back.
"The Chronicle and its staff are excited to work together and support Oldham Parish Church with their coffee mornings, especially during the time of Lent and beyond."
