The wrecked bus stop on Dobcross New Road
This is the shattered remains of a popular bus stop and congregating place for the young in a Saddleworth village (above).
The bus stop, near the Lime Kiln cafe on Dobcross New Road in Dobcross, was completely destroyed when a saloon car collided with it on Saturday evening.
The stone exterior collapsed, bringing the roof to the ground and leaving locals perplexed and upset by the damage and the dangers it could have posed should any pedestrians have been using the stop at the time.
Currently, there are no reports of the occupants, believed to be four males in the saloon car, being injured or charged with any offences relating to the incident.
Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for an update.
One local observed: ”The car wasn’t being driven at low speed to do this kind of damage.
"It's lucky no-one was standing on the pavement or stop at the time of the crash.”
